2021 Preservative Free Red
Pure, expressive and crafted without compromise.
A Happs Original
In 1987, Erl Happ took a bold step: crafting wine without added preservatives. The result was a revolution in the glass. Today, we continue that legacy with our Preservative Free White — a complex, full-flavoured wine made with modern winemaking precision and no sulphur dioxide.
This isn’t just for those with allergies. It’s for anyone who wants to taste wine in its purest, most unspoiled form.
Tasting Notes
AROMA: Lifted floral aroma that displays both black and blue fruits, with hints of liquorice, choc mint, plum, graphite and spice.
PALATE: A medium-full bodied wine with good structure and flavours of dark cherry, black currant, coffee and ripe raspberries with hints of cola, rum and raison, dark chocolate and dried herbs. The tannins are quite velvety and the finish is long and mouth-watering.
VARIETIES: 47% Merlot, 38% Shiraz ad 15% Cabernet Sauvignon
ANALYSIS: Alc/Vol: 14.1%, Titratable Acidity: 6.2 g/l, pH: 3.67, Residual Sugar: < 0.5 g/l.

FAQs
What does ‘preservative free’ mean?
It means no sulphur dioxide or other preservatives have been added at any stage of winemaking. We rely on careful handling, clean fruit and protective bottling to maintain freshness.
Can I cellar it?
Yes. While it's ready to drink now, our preservative free white can confidently be aged for up to five years.
Is this safe for people with sulphite allergies?
Yes. This wine is made without added sulphites and is a great option for those with sensitivities.
What’s the difference between organic wine and preservative free wine?
Organic wine is made from organically grown grapes and may still contain preservatives. Preservative free wine focuses on winemaking without additives like sulphur dioxide — regardless of how the grapes were grown. Some wines are both, but they’re not the same thing.
